Deliverability Consultant

Responsibilities:

In this position, the Deliverability Consultant will guide Responsys clients’ deliverability education, on boarding, problem resolution.

Primary areas of responsibility include:
  • Perform detailed analyses of client deliverability across programs, campaigns, and segments and provide actionable recommendations for improvement
  • Develop recommendations for improved deliverability.
  • Travel to client locations to execute Responsys deliverability workshops and consult (job requires about 15% travel)
  • Keep abreast of state and federal legislation relative to "Anti-SPAM" and communicate as needed to the Responsys team.
  • Stays informed of emerging industry trends by reading reports/publications, participating in training webinars, and attending industry conferences.
  • Contribute to Responsys thought leadership in the industry by authoring articles and presenting at trade shows. Develop content for the Responsys internal "Best Practices" library.
  • Define technological solutions to monitor client e-mail marketing campaigns to proactively identify problems, measure company overall performance relative to SPAM complaints and bounces, and to enable clients to create and execute campaigns that support best practices.
  • Work with our internal Deliverability Operations team and also develop your own key relationships among ISPs to work in concert on behalf of clients/consumers and to ensure that Responsys is aware of ISP initiatives in this area and their impact on our clients.
  • Work with Product Management and Deliverability Operations to define product priorities and enhancements related to deliverability.

Experience:

The qualified candidate will have a minimum of 6 years experience in interactive marketing, with at least 3 years of experience with the email channel focused on deliverability. Previous agency or consulting experience preferred. Also required:

  • Thorough understanding of email technologies including MTAs, SMTP, DNS, feedback loops and white listing.
  • Strong familiarity with database concepts, specifically regarding email data capture and segmentation.
  • Prior experience in working with ISPs on deliverability related issues;
  • Understanding of online marketing best practices;
  • Knowledge of ESP landscape;
  • Regulatory experience in understanding proposed and passed anti-spam legislation.
  • Knowledge of spam filtering technologies;
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with project management and interpersonal communication abilities (ability to produce professional reports and present to senior-level executives within client organizations.)
  • Outstanding attention to detail and high personal quality expectations

  • Strong understanding of what it takes to excel as a consultant
  • Ability to take responsibility and complete projects single-handedly
  • Superior computer skills (Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, HTML)
  • Self-directed and self-motivated with a demonstrated work ethic and ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
  • 4-year BA or BS degree (preferably in Marketing, Business Management, Economics, Statistics or other related coursework)

Reporting Relationship:

Reports directly to the Vice President of Strategic Services
